We’re opening up the blog this weekend for a full photo recap of the festivities. Take your camera with you, snap away, and send your favorites to theapachehouse@gmail.com. If we were a real blog we would give away a prize or something for the best picture, but that’s only if we were a real blog.
Have fun.

Now, I may very well be the only one, but I love gritty videos of live shows. I watch videos of Modest Mouse and Built to Spill playing shows in the 90’s like most people watch American Idol or Dancing with the Stars.
Hopefully I will pass this love affair on to you through a new blog series of live shows from mostly local musicians, politely scammed off of myspace and youtube. I just picked up the Evangelicals vinyl at Record Store Day, so I’ll start this off with a little Bellawood, if you don’t mind.
Requests, anyone?

Great Jumping Spiders, Batman! Look at what you can get at Target, now! Puzzles featuring photos by our very own Thomas Shahan. I’ll take one of each, please.

I was pleasantly surprised the other day when I stumbled upon the MFA Thesis Exhibition at Mainsite, featuring a good amount of work from three grad students, Jamie Henderson, Robert Davis Jr, and Eyakem Gulilat. Robert’s work, shown above, is an interesting mixture of mediums, focusing on identity and social classes. And as always, Eyakem’s photos are beautiful. The show runs through May 8th. Check it out.

It’s less than a week away, folks. The band list is exhaustive, including just about every Oklahoma band ever, and they are expanding the festival this year to two days instead of one. And. It’s. Free. Also, Dustbowl Arts Market will be there on Sunday.
Start making your schedules, people. Mayola, Shitty/Awesome, Gentle Ghost, Colourmusic, Evangelicals, and the Octopus Project are topping my list so far. I’m feeling loud.
What’s your lineup looking like? Anybody we shouldn’t miss out on?

This Saturday is Record Store Day, and as if that weren’t enough excitement all by itself, local heroes Gentle Ghost will be releasing their long-awaited debut album Family, which was recorded with Nice People. Check out the photos on Tyler’s blog. You can pick one up at Guestroom in Norman this Saturday during the Locust Avenue / Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey / Gentle Ghost / Early Beat / Depth & Current / Rainbows are Free show, which starts at 6.
